ELF Chair makes headlines in Bangladesh

Chair of the European Lung Foundation, Monica Fletcher, has been hitting the headlines in Bangladesh after visiting the country as part of a unique training project.

The visit was part of the ‘Better Breathing Bangladesh’ project led by UK-based charity Education for Health; an initiative which aims to improve the quality of respiratory? care provided to patients in Bangladesh.
Monica Fletcher, who is also the Chief Executive of Education for Health, visited several areas of the country to raise awareness of respiratory disease.

The project has involved training doctors and nurses in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and on how to effectively conduct a spirometry test. Approximately 200 nurses have attended the workshops to date.

As part of the visit, Monica was also raising awareness of this year’s World Spirometry Day Campaign and hearing how healthcare professionals in Bangladesh will be supporting the event with testing events already planned in Dhaka.
