  • Improved methods of early detection are needed to increase the proportion of patients eligible for surgery, provided that this is shown to reduce mortality.

Research

  • Identification of new target molecules on cancer cells should help improve early diagnosis and target new treatments.

  • Continuing evaluation of current treatments, particularly of new chemotherapeutic agents is required.
