Prevention
- More than 300 drugs are recognised as causing respiratory disease and, in particular, ILDs. Therefore, there is a need to register and communicate such drug effects across Europe and to establish guidelines for early detection, treatment and prevention of drug-induced ILDs.
Diagnosis and treatment
- A more intensive approach by national health authorities is required, in order to improve diagnosis and find safe and effective treatments for ILDs.
Research
- Large-scale epidemiological studies on ILDs are needed to improve knowledge of individual genetic susceptibility for the different ILDs and the pathogenetic effects of external agents.
- More comprehensive information is required on possible genetic influences on the development of ILDs.
