2010

World COPD Day 2010 took place on November 17 around the theme “2010 – The Year of the Lung: Measure your lung health – Ask your doctor about a simple breathing test called spirometry.”

COPD is a highly prevalent disease that has a large impact on quality of life for patients and their families and kills millions of people worldwide. A simple, painless test called spirometry can help diagnose COPD and if it is detected early, treatments are available to prevent further deterioration of lung function.

More than 120 events took place on World COPD Day 2010 in 38 countries around the world. The theme in 2010, continued on from World Spirometry Day (October 14, 2010), where nearly 90,000 people worldwide had their lungs tested.
