Researchers have statistically proven that heavy smoking ages you by 10 years.

The Finnish study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, looked at smoking habits and mortality in 1,658 men, over a 26-year period.

There were 372 deaths during the study. Participants who had never smoked lived an average of 10 years longer than heavy smokers (defined as more than 20 cigarettes per day).

The surviving participants had their quality of life measured according to their physical functioning, health problems, remotional problems, social functioning, fatigue and energy levels and general health.

These results were most significant among those who had never smoked and heavy smokers.
